Narmeen Marji is an architect and urban planner and designer, specialized in Augmented Reality development and cross-platform application building for Architecture, Urban Planning, and Design. She has participated in projects of architectural design, city planning, and heritage conservation. She completed her Spatial Planning Master’s program focusing on applications of AR in architectural education at the German Jordanian University in 2021 with distinction. Following which she has worked on major urban planning and design projects across the Arab region.

She delivered multiple international public lectures and her architectural work received several international excellence awards. Narmeen’s research on integrating Augmented Reality (AR) into Architectural and Urban Design pedagogy has received global recognition as one of the top 9 AR/VR applications in education and one of the world’s most innovative Urban Design Programs by the prestigious educational award, QS: Reimagine Education.

Pursuing her PhD at Tampere University in the doctoral program of humans and technologies within the Gamification Group (GG), her current research focuses on the design of virtual space in urban contexts. Specifically in utilizing architecture fiction, impossible architecture, and fantastical cities to establish a concrete foundation for developing future visions, in addition to designing and experiencing virtual space. Her research re-examines the “impossible” in architecture by exploring the experiences XR technologies can enable in the built environment.
